The South Carolina Resource Guide is a county-organized directory compiled by The Fruits of Eden Team to connect individuals, families, and advocates with essential support across the state. It includes emergency shelter resources, county treatment providers, food bank networks, legal aid and reentry support, senior and disability services, and statewide crisis and protective services, along with domestic violence advocacy, child protection centers, sexual assault survivor support, and human trafficking resources. This guide exists to make help visible, accessible, and actionable throughout South Carolina for informational purposes only.


Emergency Shelter Resource Guide

Aiken County, SC

Homeless / Emergency Shelters

  • The Salvation Army of Aiken – Emergency homeless shelter and temporary housing support in Aiken.

Domestic Violence Shelter

  • Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons – Provides emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children (up to ~60 days).

Beaufort County, SC

Family Homeless Shelter

  • Family Promise of Beaufort County Provides temporary shelter for homeless families with children in Beaufort and Jasper Counties. Based in Bluffton/Beaufort area (contact for intake details).

Domestic Violence Shelter & Services

  • Hopeful Horizons (Domestic Violence) Offers 24/7 crisis hotline and emergency shelter services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Beaufort County. Crisis support available; confidential shelter intake required.

Notes for Each County

  • Most counties in South Carolina do not have large standalone inpatient rehabs, but they do have licensed outpatient, detox, and residential treatment providers or county substance abuse authorities that offer services.

  • Community mental health centers often provide outpatient substance use counseling and referral.

  • The SAMHSA directory lets you create a precise county list with service types (methadone/medication-assisted treatment, outpatient, residential, etc.).
